Other Climate Friendly Practices

Over the past ten years, the district has transitioned to paperless systems. From having job applicants fill out online applications, to no longer printing Board agendas, this move has been positive. There is a paperless work order process, utilize Google Docs and Sheets, use a digital absence management system, and send digital ParentSquare notifications instead of distributing a paper newsletter.
All sites have water bottle filler stations, both to promote healthy habits and to reduce the amount of waste we produce (water bottles).
The Cities of San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay and San Luis Obispo County work closely with the district on transportation, park services, bike to school initiatives, walk to school initiatives, and Safe Routes to School.
The San Luis Coastal Education Foundation has connected our district and classrooms with: Creekside Preservation, Trout in the Classrooms, One Cool Earth School Gardens, iINNOVATE Labs, and Bike SLO County Program.
These partnerships not only add to our climate friendly practices, they also build an educational component into our efforts to help our students and staff learn about ways we can enhance our world.
