Volleyball Rules of Play
- Six players per team.
- 20-minute matches or the first team to reach 25 points.
- For matches played outside, teams will switch sides at 10 minutes due to external conditions.
- Players rotate one position clockwise each time their team wins a serve.
- For safety purposes, "net" and "under the net" will be called strictly.
- The ball can be hit no more than three times to return over the net.
- There are no double-hits (hitting the ball two times in a row).
- No lifting the ball.
- Servers should be behind the baseline, but athletes can take one step onto the court if necessary.
- If you have an athlete who needs to enter the court more than one step, please communicate this to the officials before the game.
- At the End of the Season Tournament, all serving will be done from behind the baseline.
- Games will be played under rally scoring.
- One team earns a point on each serve.
- If a player serves five consecutive points, the other team will automatically get the serve.
- Out of bounds is when the ball hits outside of the designated boundary line.
- If the ball hits any object outside the court or the ceiling, it is considered out.
- If a player commits a physical foul, allow both players to cool down off the court.
- Take a moment to talk to the players and remind them of the rules before they can get back into the game.
