Soccer Rules of Play
- Each team has 7 players on the field: 1 goalkeeper and 6 outfield players.
- 30-minute games - two 15-minute halves.
- 5-minute halftime for water and subs.
- No heading the ball of slide tackling.
- No offside penalties.
- Unlimited substitutions are allowed.
- Players can switch in and out at any time with the ball is out of play.
- When the ball goes out of bounds, restart with a kick-in.
- When a foul occurs, restart with an indirect free kick.
- All free kicks are indirect, meaning the ball must touch another player before a goal can be scored.
- Goalkeepers are allowed to use their hands, but only close to their goal.
- If a goalkeeper handles the ball too far from the goal, use your judgement and give a warning.
- If needed, award an indirect free kick.
- A penalty kick can be given if a foul occurs near the goal and warrants a direct kick.
- Penalty kicks are the direct kicks in the game.
- If a player commits a physical foul, allow both players to cool down off the field.
- Take a moment to talk to the players and remind them of the rules before they can get back into the game.
