January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month.

Every year since 2010, the President has dedicated the month to raise awareness about human trafficking and to educate the public about how to identify and prevent this crime.

The effort has many objectives, including support of survivors, prosecution of traffickers, and an end to human trafficking in the United States and around the world.

It's important to note that California has been identified by the FBI as one of the nation’s top four destination states for trafficked persons and San Luis Obispo County is a natural corridor for human trafficking activities between Los Angeles and San Francisco, as well as the Central Valley and the Central Coast.

The National Human Trafficking Resource Center (NHTRC)/Polaris Project operates 24 hours, 7 days a week. Call Specialists can connect victims with law enforcement and service providers in their local area who can help them get out of exploitive situations and into safe environments.

The flyers linked below help our families understand Human Trafficking and ways to keep our children safe.
