TK/Kindergarten and/or NEW STUDENT entering Grades 1 – 12 Registration
 

Please follow the process below to complete your new student registration. 

1. Complete the Aeries Online Enrollment to begin the online registration process. 
2. Submit, via email or in-person, the Home Language Survey (Spanish version) and the Confidential Student Information for School Nurse (Spanish version) to your School of Residence (see addresses and emails below). 
3. If you have additional documents to submit that weren't uploaded during the online registration process (residence verification, age verification, immunization records), email or drop them off to your School of Residence. 

Note, your registration is not complete until you complete all the steps above. 

Families who are unable to complete the process online should reach out to their School of Residence for assistance.

THIS PROCESS DOES NOT APPLY TO INTERDISTRICT TRANSFERS. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR INFORMATION ON THE INTERDISTRICT TRANSFER PROCESS. 

Students who reside within district boundaries may apply for enrollment in any district school. It is based on student enrollment and available space for the admission of students from outside a school's attendance area. Once enrolled, a student shall not have to apply for readmission. K-12 students may transfer from their School of Residence to an alternative school within our district boundaries.  

Elementary Students requesting an intradistrict transfer, should complete the Open Enrollment Transfer Application. 

Elementary Families requesting intradistrict transfers must submit their request during the Open Enrollment period, February 10-March 20, 2026.  Intradistrict transfer paperwork received after March 20, 2026 at 4PM will not be considered.  

Secondary students wishing to transfer schools must contact their current school to initiate an Administrative Transfer to the desired school.

• SLSUSD will process requests for subsequent school year starting May 1.
• The interdistrict transfer request must start in the district of residence  where the student resides.
• If the request is denied, you have the right to appeal within 30 days of the denial. If the denial is upheld, you have 30 days to appeal to the County Board of Education.
• Failure to adhere to timelines will be deemed an abandonment of the request.
• Interdistrict transfers maybe revoked or rescinded per Board Policy and Administrative Regulation 5117.

Interdistrict Transfer Requests will be processed as follows:

• Notify the parent submitting a current year request of its final decision within 30 calendar days of receipt;
• Notify the parent submitting a future year request of it's decision as soon as possible, but no later than 14 days after the start of the instruction in the school year for which the transfer is sought;
• Provide written notice of the parents' right to appeal to the County Board of Education within 30 calendar days from the final date of denial;
• Provisionally admit students to a requested district; based on their evidence that a final decision is pending with a district of residence, proposed district, or County Board of Education.

Pupil Residency: Pupils of Military Families:

Existing law provides an exception to the residency requirements for a student whose parent is transferred to or is pending transfer to a military installation with the state while on active military duty pursuant to an official military order. AB 2949 adds section 48204.6 to the Education Code to require a local educational agency to permit a student who meets certain criteria to continue attending the student's "school of origin" during that school year, regardless of any change of residence of the military family. If the student's status changes due to end of military service, then the student is allowed to stay in the school of origin for the remainder of the academic year if he or she is between grades 1-8, or through graduation if the student is enrolled in high school. The new law effectively mirrors the laws related to protecting foster youth and homeless children, who are also susceptible to frequent school changes.
