English Language Arts/English Language Development
Our goal in SLCUSD is for students to become avid, strategic, grade level readers and writers who are creative, critical thinkers, intentional communicators and self-reflective learners. Rigorous grade-level expectations are articulated in the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), in the CA ELD standards, and the CA ELA/ELD framework for reading, writing, speaking and listening, and language. These standards and framework guide instruction in both English language arts, English Language Development and literacy in the content areas.
