2026-27 Board Priorities

Academic Achievement

Continue evidence-based, data-informed strategies to close the achievement gap, with a focused emphasis on targeted student groups, using data tools to monitor performance and drive targeted instructional interventions to ensure equitable access to rigorous coursework for every student.

Meaningful Partnerships

  • Maintain proactive, transparent communication with families and continue efforts to build trust, improve accessibility of information, and create inclusive engagement opportunities.
  • Sustain community engagement structures that invite parental voice, particularly those from underrepresented communities, into district decision-making to ensure their input actively shapes programs and priorities.
  • Develop a shared, cohesive vision with the San Luis Coastal Education Foundation (SLCEF) that clarifies communication, collaborations, and transparency.

Operational Effectiveness, Fiscal Responsibility & Facilities

  • Continue rebuilding fiscal reserves and practice disciplined budget management while sustaining long-term revenue advocacy efforts, including DCNPP unitary tax negotiations and TK state funding access.
  • Maintain responsible stewardship of Measure C funds.
  • Develop a strategic framework for District surplus properties, including exploring a needs assessment for workforce housing.

Culture of Care

  • Continue cross-departmental coordination between Instructional Services and Student Services staff to address the whole child, treating student mental and emotional health as foundational to academic success.
  • Modernize the Student Services delivery model and respond intentionally to elevated mental health and behavioral needs by developing updated protocols, staffing models, and tiered support systems that reflect current student needs and ensure equitable, accessible, and efficient support for all students across the district.

Transition, Talent Development & Staff Support

  • During the superintendent transition year, prioritize thoughtful succession planning by documenting and preserving institutional knowledge ensuring systems, routines, and professional expectations carry forward effectively.
  • Continue diversifying workforce that reflects and serves the district's student community while supporting their professional capacities.
