To enhance communication with students, parents, guardians, staff, community members and the public at large, the San Luis Coastal Unified School District (SLCUSD) Board of Education encourages the development and ongoing maintenance of district and school websites. Websites shall support the educational vision of SLCUSD. By visiting the website, visitors are accepting the policies and practices described in this notice.

SLCUSD provides all information on this Site exclusively under the following Terms and Conditions. This includes the content and the underlying source HTML files that implement the hypertext features and collectively makeup this Site.

Please note that policies and this Site are subject to change without notice and that the Site reflects SLCUSD's current practices in accordance with Board Policy and Administrative Regulation 1113 adopted Feb. 18, 2003.

Privacy Statement, E-mail, Surveys and Information Collection

The SLCUSD website does not currently gather information from any visitors to its web site except for the following information that is automatically collected electronically:

  1. The e-mail address and content
  2. Information volunteered in response to a survey

This information may include text characters, audio, video, and graphic information sent to the website and will be used to improve services or respond to requests. E-mail may be forwarded to other employees to provide services. Except for authorized law enforcement investigation or as required by law, SLCUSD does not share its e-mail with other organizations.

Children under the age of 13 are not eligible to use online services that require submission of personal information, and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requires that any personal information about minors be regulated in accordance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Minors should seek guidance from their parents.

Under Government Code 11015.5, a person who uses a website may choose to have any personal information collected discarded without reuse or distribution, provided SLCUSD is contacted in a timely fashion ("Privacy Policy," Government Code Section 11015.5 at http://www.cde.ca.gov/privacy/privacy.htm).

Public Disclosure

In the State of California, laws exist to ensure that the public has a right to access appropriate records and information. At the same time, there are exceptions to the public's right to access public records. These exceptions serve various needs, including maintaining the privacy of individuals. Both state and federal laws provide exceptions.

All information collected at this site becomes public record that may be subject to inspection and copying by the public, unless an exemption in law exists. In the event of a conflict between SLCUSD Board Policy and the Public Records Act, the Information Practices Act, or other law governing the disclosure of records, the Public Records Act, the Information Practices Act, or other applicable law will control.

This website has links to sites SLCUSD believes might be useful to those visiting its website and which may provide services. When a visitor links to another site, he/she is no longer on the SLCUSD site and is subject to the privacy policy of the new site.

SLCUSD does not assume any responsibility for the content, technology implemented, nor privacy practices of third-party sites and all use is at the visitor's own risk. Content published on the SLCUSD website adheres to all copyright laws and fair use guidelines according to Board Policy and Administrative Regulation 6162.6 and shall include a notice crediting the original producer of any material and indicating how and when permission to publish was granted.
