Principal's Message
Del Mar School is an outstanding K-6 elementary school where literacy instruction and learning are at the heart of all we do to help children succeed. Our curriculum is balanced, and standards are the guiding lights for each subject at each grade level.
Accelerating Literacy/Guided Process Reading is being implemented throughout the entire school where every child reads daily for fluency, comprehension, and knowledge across curriculum areas. Instruction reflects grade level standards K-6.
Morning Core Academic Learning time is protected daily from all interruptions, pull-outs, and calls.
Title I has 22 intervention programs in place to enrich and accelerate progress in reading, writing, and math performance, as measured on SAT-9 for all targeted students. Four extended-day programs (before and after school) are also in place to help students reach their goals to master content standards:
- Title I Math Acceleration Program - Computer Math Steps Technology and Tutorial program.
- Title I Read Naturally Fluency Lab for 2-6 students teaching fluency and comprehension.
- Homework Club - for all 3-6 students, and selected second grade students.
- Title I Math Flash Facts Program for 3-6 students.
SAT-9 scores continue to climb, with our most recent SAT-9 school growth indicating 24 points improvement, reflecting school-wide SAT-9 API score of 819.
