Certificated
In order to work for San Luis Coastal, substitute teachers must have either a valid California teaching credential or a 30-day Substitute Teaching Emergency Permit. Substitutes work a half-day (3 hours and 30 minutes or less) for $45 or a full-day for $90. Applications are accepted from late August through April of each school year.
The application and its supporting documents can be photocopied and submitted to the various school districts, within San Luis Obispo County, where the applicant is hoping to work. Each application is paper screened, references are checked, then candidates are selected for personal interviews. This process can take as long as a month.
