Personnel Commission
The fundamental purpose of the Personnel Commission is to insure that classified (non-teaching) school employees are selected, promoted, and retained on the basis of merit and fitness. Our "merit system" of employment is similar to a civil service system. Authority for the Personnel Commission functions is provided in Sections 45240-45320 of the Education Code.
The Personnel Commission is an independent body composed of three persons appointed for three-year staggered terms. Meetings are typically held the fourth Wednesday of each month starting at 4:00 p.m. in the Personnel Office Conference Room, Building A, 1500 Lizzie Drive, San Luis Obispo. Employees are welcome to attend the meetings. The meeting agenda is posted on the website one week prior to the meeting.
