The Information Services and Technology (IST) team works to professionally support district-wide technology by leveraging available resources within a culture of mutual respect and collaboration.
IST repairs and maintains technology at 10 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, 3 high schools and for each district-level department. The district owns a Unified Metropolitan Area Network (UMAN), which is a fiber optic network that links all sites to the district office and many city and community entities. 100% of our classrooms are connected to the wide area network and filtered Internet access is provided in compliance with the district's Student Technology Use Policy (pp.6-9) and CIPA requirements. The District Educational Technology Plan has been updated by the EdTech Steering Committee and approved by our school board and the California Department of Education through 2014. Contact us for a copy of the full version of the edtech plan.
In addition to our customer service-oriented staff, we carefully select part-time work study students from California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) to work with us during the school year. We also collaborate with our high schools' Regional Occupation Program (ROP). Students enrolled in ROP courses assist in supporting technology on campus.
