New Parent Portal for Grades 7-12
Tuesday, 6 May 2008 - District Newswire
PowerSchool's new web-based, student information system increases opportunities for parental involvement and facilitates the process for making informed, data-driven decisions for teachers and administrators. Studies show that parental involvement can have a positive effect on a child's academic performance. SLCUSD middle and high school parents and students have password protected access to a portal with grades, attendance, activities, homework assignments and more from any Internet connection. This feature will be available to elementary parents in the future. PowerSchool's parent portal eliminates surprises at progress report card time by allowing middle and high school parents to check their child’s grades online. Students and parents will know exactly how the latest assignment or test has affected the grade. So now parent-teacher conferences can be about strategies for improvement, instead of a review of the facts.
Click here for a news report from one of more than 10,100 schools in 49 states using PowerSchool. SLCUSD middle schools and high schools have reported the following benefits:
-
PowerSchool increases parent involvement by allowing parents and families to monitor student performance and take a more proactive stance in their student's education.
-
PowerSchool is web-based which provides school staff access to up-to-the-minute data for informed decision-making.
-
PowerSchool provides a comprehensive view of the school's many components creating a more clear picture of how academic progress is being made by individual and groups of students.
Parents and families with students in grades 7-12 can learn more about the program by contacting their school.
