Education Specifications

The education specifications is a document that focuses on two main points: (1) the educational program, and (2) the physical requirements of instruction.  It will be a planning reference guide for the District to provide architects and planners when projects will be initiated throughout the District's school sites.  They were created in a collaborative effort by a committee of SLCUSD educators, administrators, and facilities managers; as well as parents of students, community members, planners, and architects.  Educators and student services staff assisted in compiling a description of the different school sites' curricula, activities, and support services into an educational program. With that, each school site was evaluated for its condition and facilities provided.  The educational program, also referred in the documents as the philosophy, academic program, or goals and objectives; was developed with these existing facilities in mind. This education specification bridges the education program with physical requirements for housing the anticipated curricula.  Although this document covers development expected over the course of many years, it should be anticipated to be reviewed and updated annually, so that as curriculum and educational trends and goals are modified, the Educational Specifications remain complimentary to SLCUSD's future programs.
