School Nurse Team

Credentialed School Nurse Education Preparation

  • Registered Nurse, licensed by the California Board of Registered Nursing
  • Holds a minimum of a Bachelor's degree
  • Holds a School Nurse Services Credential by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing
  • Possesses current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification

Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) Education Preparation

  • Licensed Vocational Nurse, licensed by the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Techs
  • Possesses current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification


School Nurse Team

  • The district currently employees four credentialed school nurses to fill three full-time equivalent positions
  • Each credentialed school nurse is assigned to various schools
  • Create school health care plans to support students with health conditions
  • Conduct state-mandated screenings: hearing, vision, and color deficiency
  • Provide first aid, and communicable disease control
  • Provide health counseling to pupils, parents, and school staff
  • Refer pupils and parents to appropriate community resources for suspected medical diagnosis and treatment
  • Collaborate with community programs to screen and link students and families to health resources
  • The district currently employees three LVNs who are each assigned to various schools and who operate under the supervision of the School Nurse
  • Supports the School Nurse with student health follow-up, care for students with illness and/or injuries, assists with medication administration, and follows/provides specialized nursing procedures
